Timothy Larsen (PhD in History, Stirling University; DD in Theology, Edinburgh University) is McManis Professor of Christian Thought and Professor of History at Wheaton College (Illinois, USA) and an Honorary Fellow, Edinburgh University. He is a Fellow of both the Royal Historical Society and the Royal Anthropological Institute, and has been a Visiting Fellow at All Souls College, Oxford, Trinity College, Cambridge, and Christ Church, Oxford. He has edited a dozen books, including The Oxford Handbook of Christmas , and is the General Editor of Oxford University Press’ Spiritual Lives biography series. He has written eight books, including Crisis of Doubt: Honest Faith in Nineteenth-Century Britain, A People of One Book: The Bible and the Victorians, The Slain God: Anthropologists and the Christian Faith , and John Stuart Mill: A Secular Life (all with Oxford University Press).
